Music.......ah, what would life be without it? What will Heaven be like with perfect music? What a wonderful gift God gave us in music! It is truly a fantastic means of worship, both public and private. I was so blessed to grow up with a great balance of music in my life. My music teacher made sure that I had a good foundation in classical and popular music, and if I had paid better attention and practiced proper technique more, I would be a better musician today. Not only was it the classical foundation, but it was being raised in a Wesleyan Methodist church and being in camp meetings every year that gave me a great appreciation for church music that is anointed by the Holy Spirit. I am just not satisfied with anything less.
In beginning Sacred Turntable, I wanted to bring back to life the music that I remember from my growing-up years. I also want to stir those wonderful memories of the people who added so much to our churches' musical heritage. Now, I do not believe in living in the past and do not intend to minimize the music of today because there are some wonderful artists out there who are still allowing the Lord to use them for His Glory. I just felt that were some great recordings sitting around that needed to be heard once again. I am so grateful to those whose music made such a strong impression on me and helped form my own style of playing and singing, and I want to honor them with Sacred Turntable.
The blog and Facebook page will give us an avenue to share some of those memories and I hope that many of you will participate with us. My next blog will begin our trip down memory lane of "old camp meeting singing!" Such singing...it made the rafters ring!
